About Us
Our Story
In 1996
Ascending Praise Church began in 1996 as a Tuesday night Bible sturdy group and Friday night prayer meeting in Phillips neighborhood in Minneapolis Minnesota. Because of its vision of prayer until something happens, the name of this ministry was then Twin Cities House of prayer. We saw God’s hand through prayer and witnessing in the streets. Drug addicts and dealers were transformed power of Jesus and the fellowship grew greatly.
In 1999
the church went through very difficult times. We saw the falling away key brethren who resulted to extreme painful moments on the leadership and members. It was at this painful and desperate time that the Lord poured upon Pastor Linus the spirit of praise and thanksgiving. It was at this time when the leadership decided to change the name of this ministry to Ascending Praise Church.
After the change of the name, we saw a great visitation by the Holy Spirit, which brought forth the Invisible Realty Band with Travis Beck and Salt Band with Jake Molone. These bands came as a gift and confirmation that this ministry has been set apart to celebrate the lord Jesus until He appears again.
Today At Ascending Praise
Today Ascending Praise Church has been able to produce uplifting praise and worship CD’s which are shared among the church of Jesus Christ at large.
As Ascending Praise, our leaders and members are committed to praising the Lord Jesus in all times, be it good times or difficult times.
We were are committed to Wends night youth programs and in the Sunday Morning Celebration. Ascending Praise Church receives a remarkable visitation of the Holy Spirit. During ministry time, the Spirit moves very powerfully. We are still anticipating a special move of the Holy Spirit that will usher revival in this City.
VALUES
The mission of Serving God by serving people gives birth to vision of gathering the remnant. But our work does not end with these words. We are putting action to our faith by laying out clear goals for transforming this generation to God’s glory. We want each who encounters our community to be drawn DEEPER into abundant life in Christ Jesus. We the Ascending Praise family uphold these values:
D.E.E.P.E.R.
Discovering… As we discover gifts on an individual level through relationship, we strive to connect with each other through fellowship and prayer. We believe we are only complete in each other.
Equipping… We are consistently looking for ways to give people the tools they need to thrive in their God given gifts.
Empowering… We recognize the need for leadership within the church and we embrace opportunities to support those who step up to leadership positions.
Projecting… The move of God in our church in bigger than our church! We look forward to launching equipped and empowered individuals and ministries into the fullness of God’s calling.
Evangelism… Christ’s call to preach the gospel and make disciples in all nations is one that we embrace and pursue wholeheartedly! We seek to spread the word of God (Jesus) not only in word but in actions!
Reconciliation... Sin separates us from God and from each other. In Christ, God calls us to a ministry of reconciliation on a vertical plain (worship) and on a horizontal plain (fellowship).
STATEMENT OF FAITH
The Bible, God-inspired sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is a complete and unified witness to God’s redemptive acts in history culminating in the incarnation of the Living Word, the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Bible is uniquely and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit, contains all we need to know concerning God’s will for our salvation, faith and life.
On this sure foundation, we the peoples of Ascending Praise Church affirm these "Essentials of Faith."
1). We believe in one God eternally subsisting in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
2). Jesus Christ, the living Word of God, became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and His virgin birth. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. On the third day He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where, at the right hand of God, He is now our High Priest and Mediator.
3). The Holy Spirit has come to glorify Christ and to apply the saving work of Christ to our hearts. He convicts us of sin and draws us to the Savior. Indwelling in our hearts, He gives new life to us, empowers and imparts gifts to us for service. He instructs and guides us into all truth, and seals us for the day of redemption. No believer can fully reflect Christ in his or her personal life except by the Holy Spirit and without which non can be Christ like.
4). Our salvation is wholly dependent upon the work of God's free grace. God credits His righteousness to those that put their faith in Christ alone for their salvation, thereby justifies them in His sight. Only such as are born of the Holy Spirit and receive Jesus Christ become children of God and heirs of eternal life.
5). The true Church is composed of all persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ and sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit are united together in the body of Christ. The Church finds her visible, yet imperfect, expression in local congregations.
6). Baptism: Ascending Praise Church believes in:
Infant Dedication: Luke 2:22
At the age, those who chose Jesus as Lord and savior, we baptize by immersion just as the scripture says.
THE MEANING OF THE WORD BAPTIZE – The word "baptize" means "to dip, plunge, or immerse." The word never means, and can never with honesty be translated "sprinkle" or "pour". Immersion is not a mode of baptism. Immersion is baptism. Without immersion, baptism has not taken place.
THE METHOD OF BAPTISM IN THE NEW TESTAMENT - How was baptism practiced in the New Testament? That really should settle the issue for all who wish to honor and obey the Word of God. Wherever John the Baptist baptized men he required "much water" (John 3:23), because he could not baptize anyone with a teacup. When the Lord Jesus was baptized he went into the river Jordan. The water was not brought from the river to him. He was immersed in the water. Otherwise, he could not have come "up straightway out of the water" (Matt. 3:16). When Philip baptized the Ethiopian "they went down both into the water" and then came "up out of the water" (Acts 8:38-39). That would hardly have been necessary if only a few drops of water had been needed to do the work!
In the New Testament baptism is always spoken of as a burial (Rom. 6:4; Col. 2:12). When you bury a corpse in the earth, you do not throw a few grains of sand in his face. You put him beneath the ground. And a person cannot be buried with Christ in baptism except by immersion.
THE MESSAGE OF THIS GOSPEL ORDINANCE - Baptism is not a picture of regeneration and spiritual renewal. It is a picture of substitutionary redemption and spiritual resurrection (Rom. 6:36). In baptism we confess our faith in Christ's death as our Substitute, our resurrection with him by the power of his Spirit, and our hope of the resurrection to come. The only way the picture can be given is by immersion.
7). Jesus Christ will come again to the earth-personally, visibly, and bodily to judge the living and the dead, and to consummate history and the eternal plan of God.
8). The Lord Jesus Christ commands all believers to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world and to make disciples of all peoples. Obedience to the Great Commission requires total commitment to "him who loved us and gave Himself for us." He calls us to a life of self-denying love and service.
9). UNIFIED BODY “In these Essentials we must have unity. In those issues not essential to the establishment of church invisible we have liberty. And in all things we must always have love”. Working together and obeying His word. Together as a body corporate we can fulfill the Great Commission.
